The Village Panchayat of Siolim-Marna has a rich history and plays a vital role in the local governance of the area. Siolim-Marna is one of the three panchayats in the Siolim region, alongside Siolim-Sodiem and Siolim-Oxel.

The formation of the Village Panchayat of Siolim-Marna was part of the broader administrative framework established to manage local governance in Goa. The panchayat system in Goa was introduced to decentralize power and ensure that local communities had a say in their own development and administration. This system allows for better management of resources, infrastructure, and community welfare.

The Village Panchayat of Siolim-Marna is responsible for various functions, including maintaining public infrastructure, managing waste disposal, providing basic amenities, and implementing government schemes at the local level.

The Village Panchayat shall exercise the Functions, Duties and Powers listed under the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994 and Gram Panchayat Rules 1996.
